Synopsis

Thalente Biyela, a South African skateboarder, leaves his home country for the United States to pursue a career in professional skateboarding. Since the age of nine, he has faced homelessness, which shapes his experiences. Throughout the 88-minute documentary, Biyela confronts his past while seeking opportunities in a new environment. Directed by Natalie Johns, "I Am Thalente" captures his struggles and triumphs as he works to achieve his dreams against significant odds.
