She pursues a career in documentary filmmaking to change her future and empower other women in her community. Under the direction of Sue Carpenter, the film follows Belmaya's efforts to break free from social norms in Nepal. Running for 82 minutes, I Am Belmaya captures her challenges and achievements while she attempts to create a new narrative for herself and others.
