Synopsis
Alexander Kluge, a key figure in 1960s modernist cinema, combines his avant-garde television skits with the surreal works of Khavn de la Cruz, a prominent underground filmmaker from the Philippines. "Happy Lamento" features Kluge's segments on electricity, the circus, and revolution, alongside outrageous scenes from Khavn's 2016 film "Ang Napakaigsing Buhay Ng Alipato." The documentary also includes footage from the 2017 G20 summit, featuring leaders like Angela Merkel and Donald Trump, adding a layer of contemporary relevance.
