Synopsis

Frank McKue stands in the execution chamber of Barlinnie Prison in autumn 1995, revisiting a site soon to be demolished. The 15-minute documentary captures his reflections on capital punishment, filmed entirely in black and white on 16mm stock. Production took place at Glasgow Film and Video Workshop from 1996 to 1997, with sound dubbing completed at BBC Scotland. "Hanging with Frank" won the Best Documentary Award at the Reel to Real Festival in 1998 and was selected for the Edinburgh Film Festival the same year.
