Gushegu Exile

Synopsis

Salamatu sits beneath a tree in Gushegu, separating pebbles from beans she found at the market. As night approaches, her children wait for food. Gmanun prepares to return home after 14 years in exile, while Maate oversees the local water pump. Around 100 women in Gushegu have been expelled from their villages due to witchcraft accusations. As they age, some are permitted to go back, but years of separation from their families complicate their repatriation.
