Groundswell is a documentary. Mar del Plata, a coastal city in Argentina, became the site of tragedy in the 1990s when about thirty women disappeared and were murdered, many of them sex workers. The serial killer known as “El Loco de la Ruta” was linked to these crimes. Investigations were inadequate and often overlooked the victims' humanity. Amid widespread impunity, the women took to the streets, demanding justice for themselves and their lost peers.
