Synopsis

General John J. Pershing and the 1st Division received a hero's welcome in major cities including New York City, Philadelphia, Wilmington, and Washington, D.C. The 1935 silent film captures Pershing's arrival by ferry at a New York pier, his greeting by Governor Al Smith, and a parade down Fifth Avenue. In Philadelphia, he plants a tree at Independence Hall and inspects cadets. The film concludes with Pershing attending events in Washington, D.C., including a track meet and a baseball game, alongside Vice President Thomas R. Marshall and Secretary of War Newton D. Baker.
