On March 19, 1963, Eastern Airlines flight EA539 encountered a storm while traveling from New York to Washington, D.C. During the flight, a loud bang and bright flash were reported, followed by the appearance of a glowing blue-white sphere in the cabin. This luminous ball hovered above the aisle, moving towards the rear of the aircraft before vanishing without causing any harm. This incident is one of the earliest documented accounts of ball lightning, a phenomenon that remains largely unexplained in scientific literature.
