Flying Home is a documentary. Walter Otto Wyss lived in Tokyo as a recluse during the late 1950s, having previously emigrated to the USA in 1939 after a tragic car accident. He developed a revolutionary hybrid automobile that was never produced and had a love affair with a dancer in Los Angeles. For the last 30 years of his life, he resided alone in Hawaii. His nephew, director Tobias Wyss, reconstructs Walter's complex biography through family photographs and videos in seven episodes.
