Synopsis

Leopold Mayer, a Jewish painter from Frankfurt, fled Germany as the Nazi regime rose to power. After a brief refuge in France, where he adopted the name Leo Maillet, his safety was threatened by Germany's invasion of Paris. Flight follows Maillet's escape from the Gestapo and French police, using his "Entre chien et loup" series of paintings as a narrative framework. Accompanied by his son Daniel, filmmaker Peter Nestler revisits the artist's hiding places, revealing the challenges faced by those on the run.
