In northern California, climate change and a century and a half of forest mismanagement have contributed to devastating wildfires, including the 2021 Dixie Fire, which ravaged the Lost Sierra region. In response to the destruction, local communities and organizations, such as the Sierra Nevada Conservancy, have turned to trail restoration as a means of recovery and resilience. By revitalizing these pathways, they aim to reconnect with the land and foster a sustainable future for the area’s ecosystems and inhabitants.
