Synopsis

In Rio de Janeiro's favelas, eleven LGBTQ individuals share their life experiences. Two transgender women, a crossdressing man, a travesti prostitute, and a carnival dancer describe their daily struggles and joys. Activists work toward social change within the community. A young man discusses his transition from being transgender. "Favela Gay" depicts the challenges faced by LGBTQ residents in Brazil’s urban areas. The film runs for 74 minutes and was directed by Rodrigo Felha.
