Synopsis

Alhassan Kokai is released from Kena government Hospital in Sierra Leone, having recovered from Ebola. He is among the few patients to survive a virus that has claimed over 1,300 lives in West Africa during this outbreak. Alhassan contracted Ebola while caring for his mother, who died on the 19th. After experiencing symptoms, he walked three miles to the Eola treatment unit, avoiding contact with others. Despite the challenges faced by the poorly resourced facility, a growing number of patients are leaving the hospital cured. Alhassan expresses his joy at being free from the virus after spending 11 to 12 days in treatment, highlighting the emotional toll of the disease and the stigma surrounding it.
