Synopsis

Yopo is a hallucinogenic substance naturally extracted from the seeds of a legume found in the jungles of Venezuela. The Sanema tribe uses yopo as a natural drug, snorting it through a reed. During the ritual, tribe members are naked except for loincloths, engaging in dancing, jumping, and banging like a hug. The effects of yopo include a tingling sensation, leading to feelings of possession by the drug. This substance does not create addiction; instead, it allows the Sanema to merge fully with the jungle and perceive its spirits.
