Synopsis
Dr. John Bagnato and accountant Charles Rehberg investigate Phoebe Putney Hospital in 2003. They find evidence of overcharging uninsured and indigent patients. The non-profit facility has millions in offshore accounts and operates for-profit businesses. Their findings reveal similar practices in non-profit hospitals nationwide. After making their discoveries public, Bagnato and Rehberg face threats and intimidation. Local authorities prosecute them for exposing the hospital's actions. The two men confront risks to their careers and lives in pursuit of accountability.
