Synopsis

Émilie Serri reflects on her connection to Syria, her father's homeland, after her grandmother's death. With limited visits before the civil war, she seeks to understand her family's history. Serri examines old family photos and films while interviewing relatives and other Syrians who have fled. Their memories vary; for some, Syria is vivid and fragrant with jasmine, while for others, it has begun to fade. Many prefer to shield their children from past traumas, focusing instead on the future.
