Synopsis

Sisters Isaura Borges Coelho and Hortênsia Campos Lima protested a law in Portugal during the early 1950s. This law barred nurses from marrying. The government, led by Salazar, enforced strict rules for nurses to conform to Catholic conservative ideals. Both sisters were arrested for their activism against this law. Their story represents a struggle against oppressive policies affecting women's rights in the nursing profession. The documentary runs for 50 minutes and was released in 2000.
