Synopsis
In 18th-century France, the French Revolution sparked the Metric Revolution, changing how societies measured and understood the world. "Constant" traces three key shifts in measurement: Early Modern land surveying that supported land privatization, the establishment of the metric system, and the rise of Big Science. Each chapter connects measurement to themes of justice and power. Director Guillaume Cailleau combines cinematic and technical imagery to illustrate how measurement systems relate to lived experiences. The film runs for 40 minutes and was produced in Germany and Great Britain in 2022.
