Synopsis

An orca mother in the Salish Sea carried her dead infant for 17 days in what biologists termed a "tour of grief" during the fall of 2018. "Cold Holy Water" uses vintage 16mm educational footage to reflect on the ocean as a vast home for countless creatures, many of which remain unknown. The film features a guitar score by Marisa Anderson, complemented by sounds of waves and whale breaths, creating a serene atmosphere that connects with the viewer's own breath.
