Synopsis
Tommy, an 11-year-old boy, navigates life in a Cebu City jail, where he has spent multiple stints since the age of eight. The facility, designed for 200 inmates, now houses 1,800, including many children. Esparanza Valena, a lawyer, advocates for these young prisoners, who often face violence and neglect. Despite a literacy program run by the Share a Child Movement, many, like Tommy, return to crime after release. Currently, 9,000 juveniles are detained in adult prisons across the Philippines.
