Synopsis
Howard Gan returns to Southeast Asia to oversee his investment in swiftlet farming. The swiftlets build nests from hardened saliva, which are harvested for bird's nest soup. Gan, a retired Chinese-Malaysian Canadian immigrant, reconnects with family and reflects on his past in Montreal. His daughter, an artist, finds inspiration in the swiftlet's life cycle and its parallels to her father's experiences. The narrative alternates between themes of home, family, and the changing values of different generations.
