Synopsis
Sergey Sukhanov, a cardiac surgeon in the Perm region, has performed over 20,000 open-heart surgeries. He advocated for a local cardiological industry, leading to plans for a modern Cardiac Center in the mid-2000s. Despite government funding, construction delays plagued the project. Frustrated with regional officials, Sukhanov continued his work in an aging clinic housed in a 200-year-old mansion. In late 2011, he received an unexpected offer from the Kremlin to lead Vladimir Putin's election headquarters.
