Synopsis

A woman wanders through the ruins of an abandoned hospital in Beijing, built in just one week to address the 2003 SARS outbreak. The 16-minute documentary Building Archaeology (2011) presents three vignettes focused on significant buildings in the city. Alongside the hospital, a museum and a detention center are featured. A former prisoner maps out his experience in the detention center where he was held in 2011, providing a personal perspective on these structures and their histories.
