Bread and Butter

Synopsis

Palestinian workers in the West Bank face daily challenges as they travel to jobs in Israel. Those with work permits endure long waits, invasive searches, and crowded checkpoints. Others risk their lives by sneaking across the border with smugglers. The film also follows Palestinian women managing households while men are absent, seeking new income sources, and watching over the roads for safe passage. The presence of Covid adds to the uncertainty of their journeys.
