Synopsis

Investigators from The Gecko Project traverse the Chiquitano dry forest in Bolivia’s eastern lowlands, a region devastated by rampant fires. In 2024, Bolivia lost 1.5 million hectares of forest, the second highest loss globally after Brazil. Fires, initially set for agricultural land clearing, spiraled out of control, engulfing vast areas. The film documents the urgent efforts to understand the causes and consequences of this environmental crisis, set against the backdrop of one of the world's most critical tropical forests.
