Synopsis

In June 2001, the ancient bath houses of Istanbul face significant decline as they are replaced by modern in-house bathrooms and shifting cultural preferences. Many of these historic sites are transformed into shops, obscured by concrete and glass, losing their original character. The remaining bath houses now charge prices that exceed the local population's means, turning them into tourist attractions rather than serving the community. This feature highlights the urgent need to address the fate of these cultural landmarks, which are rapidly disappearing from the Istanbul landscape.
