On S. Miguel island in the Azores, a filmmaker reflects on life and loss seven months after their mother's death. Family gatherings revolve around discussions of God and mortality. The filmmaker interacts with their 91-year-old Grandaunt, who is preparing for her own end. Joyful moments with newborns contrast with the realities of aging.
