Bahamas: Hurricane Hell

Synopsis

Hurricane Dorian devastated the Bahamas in September 2019, resulting in at least 61 fatalities and leaving hundreds missing. In the aftermath, reporter Seyi Rhodes examines the plight of Haitian migrants who have been rendered homeless and face deportation as the Bahamian government prohibits them from rebuilding their lives. Many Haitian families are living in makeshift shelters within tropical forests, fearing that seeking assistance at official shelters will lead to their removal, despite their critical role in the local economy as low-wage laborers.
