Synopsis
Artisans in the Sahara continue traditional crafts as described by Julio Caro Baroja in the 1950s.
Synopsis
In the Sahara, it is still possible to find some artisans practicing traditional crafts as described by anthropologist Julio Caro Baroja in the nineteen-fifties. Today, these artisans, known as MALEMIM or pejoratively as MAJARREROS, are rare but were once vital to the daily life of nomad encampments. In the opulent FARGAN, the artisan and his itinerant workshop held a unique position, with His Jaima serving as a central hub for their craft. This documentary highlights the enduring legacy of these artisans and their crafts in the Sahara.
