Synopsis

Viktor Ryzhakov steps into the role of artistic director at the Sovremennik theatre following the death of Galina Volchek, who led the troupe for nearly 50 years. For the theatre's inaugural production under his direction, Ryzhakov selects a play centered on a family struggling to communicate. As rehearsals progress, the cast and crew begin to mirror the disconnection of their characters, complicating their own relationships within the "theatrical family." The film captures the challenges of creating art amid personal discord.
