Six minutes of performance art personifies the concept of the aphotic zone, blending elements of nature, deity, and consciousness.
Synopsis
Škarnulytė's performance Aphotia took place at LNOBT, drawing on the concept of the aphotic zone, or dark ocean, where sunlight cannot penetrate. The work combines elements of nature, deity, human, and animal. It reflects on invisible worlds, including the depths of water and consciousness. This theme aligns with the Venice Biennial's focus on the city and its future amid climate change and rising water levels. The performance premiered in summer 2022 as part of a video work of the same name.
