Every day, Gulfira and her team walk several kilometres in the Southern Caucasus to plant Juzgun branches in an effort to combat desertification.
Synopsis
Gulfira leads a team into the Southern Caucasus of Russia, where the Nogai people face severe ecological challenges. Once a verdant steppe, the region is now transforming into a desert. For several months each autumn, Gulfira and her group trek through icy winds, planting branches of Juzgun, a shrub with deep roots that can stabilize the shifting sands. As they fight to restore their homeland, the future of the Nogai land and its people hangs in the balance.
