Synopsis

In 1988, Olivier Brodard, a 21-year-old humanitarian, traveled to Afghanistan during the Soviet occupation, carrying $50,000 for local communities. Entering illegally from Pakistan, he and his friend Paul Castella trekked to the Pansir Valley, where they met Commander Ahmad Shah Massoud and experienced the daily struggles of Afghan civilians. After returning to Switzerland, Brodard suffered a severe car accident that left him with amnesia. Using his diaries and photographs, he seeks to reconstruct his lost memories and identity in Afghan Memento.
