Synopsis
“Istanbul is not a city, it’s a life,” says a member of the dwindling Greek community in Istanbul. Before 1950, Greeks made up half of Istiklal Street. The 6th of September 1955 marked a turning point with a violent pogrom. By 1985, only 2,000 of the original 150,000 Istanbul-Greeks remained. Many now live in Greece, facing their own struggles. Some still long to return to their hometown, grappling with their identity and the silence from Greece and Europe.
