Synopsis
Caochangdi, a village in northern Beijing, features a flooded side street within a gated gallery compound. The 65-minute silent film captures this scene through a series of long takes. The area is undergoing transformation as it becomes an official art zone, marked by new gallery spaces, artist residencies, and restaurants. Artists Armstrong and Collins spent two months in residency there in 2011. At the end of the street stands the wall of the Three Shadows Photography Art Centre and Ai Wei Wei’s compound.
