Shanghai’s bustling marine port contrasts sharply with the serene source of the Yangtze River in Qinghai and Tibet. Directed by Xu Xin in 2017, this 156-minute film uses a non-narrative format. It covers thousands of kilometers along the river, integrating experimental music with live-recorded sounds. People appear as decorative figures, echoing traditional Chinese scrolls. The visuals prompt reflection on the connection between humans and the natural world along one of the longest rivers.
