Synopsis

Jimmy Santiago Baca entered Arizona State Prison as a violent, angry, and illiterate man. Sentenced to five years for theft and drug dealing, he faced one of the deadliest environments in the United States. During his incarceration, Baca taught himself to read and write. He discovered a passion for poetry that transformed his life. Through his words, he found a way to cope with the brutality of prison and ultimately redefine his identity.
