Synopsis
Antônio Conselheiro led a community in Canudos, a small village in northeastern Brazil. In 1897, the village faced a brutal assault from a powerful army. The conflict resulted in the deaths of all 30,000 residents by October 5. A Matadeira recounts this massacre through the story of an English cannon, which was transported by twenty teams of oxen to fire a single shot. The film, directed by Jorge Furtado, runs for 16 minutes and presents a historical account of this tragic event.
