Synopsis

Laurent Ballesta leads a team of marine biologists in Fakarava, French Polynesia, to study the reproductive behaviors of groupers. During their dives, they encounter a remarkable concentration of grey reef sharks. Over the course of the expedition, the team counts 700 sharks, providing new insights into their social organization during hunting. This fourth Gombessa project expedition employs innovative scientific methods that challenge existing beliefs about shark behavior and emphasizes the need for understanding their social structures for marine conservation efforts.
