Old super 8 cameras, purchased at flea markets, capture the essence of Shimogamo in this 2016 documentary. Using long-expired Kodachrome film and homemade developers, the filmmaker engages with the materiality of hand-processed small gauge film. An obsolete telecine machine, acquired in a unique exchange, aids in the transformation of these raw materials. The film runs for nine minutes, presenting a tactile exploration of texture and chance within the medium.
