Synopsis

Eighteen young men and women in Italy face significant barriers to citizenship. Born to immigrant parents, they attend Italian schools and speak fluent Italian. Despite these ties, current laws deny them citizenship. Personal interviews reveal their struggles for recognition in a multicultural society. The film draws parallels to the experiences of Dreamers in the United States, undocumented young people brought to the U.S. as children. Directed by Fred Kudjo Kuwornu, 18 Ius Soli runs for 50 minutes.
