Synopsis
Zanta, a 28-year-old widowed farmer, leaves her village in Tibet for Beijing after her in-laws deny her son the chance to attend school. In the city, she becomes a street vendor, struggling to make ends meet. Zanta persuades an American customer to help fund her son's education. However, during a visit back home, her in-laws retaliate by taking her son hostage. Zanta and the American woman must confront the violent family conflict to secure a future for her child.
