Withstanding and Existing focuses on Cinema Gwangju, the first theater in the Honam-region, which opened in 1935 and continues to screen films in its original location. The documentary features musician Gonne Choi and seven other musicians who express their interpretation of 'Gwangju-ness' through music and discussion at the cinema.
Additionally, the film includes the story of painter Park Tae-gyu, who has been hand-painting movie posters since the 1990s. This artistic perspective adds depth to the cultural significance of the cinema and its role in the community over the decades.
