The Revisionaries
The Revisionaries is a documentary about Don McLeroy, the former chairman of the Texas Board of Education, and his re-election. The film examines how the Texas Board's decisions on textbook content impact educational materials across the United States and contribute to the culture war in America. Directed by Scott Thurman, the film premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 20, 2012, where it received positive reviews and won the Festival's Special Jury Prize. The film was later acquired by Kino Lorber for North American distribution and aired on PBS's Independent Lens in January 2013, winning the PBS Independent Lens Audience Award in 2013 and the duPont Award for excellence in broadcast journalism in 2014.
