The film follows Martynka, a Polish emigrant who has lived in Manhattan for 15 years. After divorcing her American husband, she seeks a new home in Greenpoint, a neighborhood that evokes memories of her Polish roots. Despite her initial reluctance to identify with the Polish emigrant community, she feels a strong pull to the area due to her longing for family and connection.
As Greenpoint transforms into an intercultural melting pot, Martynka engages with long-time residents like Henryk, who offers support during her difficult times. She also meets Helena, an elderly woman in a senior home, who inspires her to embark on an artistic project. Through conversations with these individuals, Martynka confronts her feelings of loneliness and alienation while learning about their experiences of adaptation and endurance in a foreign land.
