Our School is a documentary about ethnic Korean students attending a pro-North Korean high school in Hokkaido, Japan. The film presents the daily lives and educational experiences of these students within the context of their cultural identity and political background. Directed by Kim Myeong-joon, the film runs for 131 minutes and is presented in both Japanese and Korean.
Released on 29 March 2007, the film quickly gained popularity, with reports indicating it had over 10,000 viewers by 3 April. It ultimately achieved between 85,000 and 90,000 viewer admissions in South Korea, surpassing other recent documentaries. The film's director received the Kim Yong-gun Memorial Society prize, recognizing his contribution to this work.
