OnBoard chronicles the rise of Black women in corporate boardrooms in the United States, starting from Patricia Roberts Harris in 1971 to the present. The film focuses on the formation of Black Women on Boards, an organization created by Merline Saintil and Robin Washington during a phone call in the Summer of 2020. This organization aims to expand opportunities for Black women in leadership roles on corporate boards.
The documentary features the stories of women who are part of this movement and shows the evolution of board diversity. With over 200 members globally, Black Women on Boards represents a significant shift in the landscape of corporate governance, emphasizing the importance of representation and inclusion in decision-making roles.
