Love, Marilyn is a documentary that focuses on the writings of Marilyn Monroe, including her diaries, poems, and letters. The film is based on the 2010 book Fragments: Poems, Intimate Notes, Letters, edited by Stanley F. Buchthal and Bernard Comment. Directed by Liz Garbus, it features dramatic readings of Monroe's writings by various actors and critics, alongside archival footage of Hollywood figures who interacted with her.
The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 12, 2012, and was later broadcast on HBO on June 17, 2013. Initially titled Fragments, the film was produced by Diamond Girl, Sol's Luncheonette Production, and StudioCanal. It presents a unique perspective on Monroe, 50 years after her death, through the lens of her personal writings discovered in the home of her acting coach, Lee Strasberg.
