Light Work Mood Disorder is a collaboration between film artist Jennifer Reeves and musician Anthony Burr, combining live film and music performance. The work utilizes up to four screens and four channels of music to create an immersive experience that intertwines themes of science, industry, medicine, and madness. The performance features colorful rhythmic molecular forms and visual textures that are deconstructed to their particle level.
The film incorporates found images from 20th-century educational films, which are fused with melted pharmaceuticals attached directly to the film. This unique combination creates a concentrated blend of pulsating electronic sounds and an acoustic multi-tonal bass clarinet. Illustrations of brain dendrites, synapses, and waveforms enhance the visual narrative, embodying the movement of frequencies and light, culminating in a performance that builds in intensity to a point of danger and rupture.
