I'm Never Afraid! is a documentary about Mack Bouwense, an eight-year-old motocross racer who has dextrocardia, a condition where the heart is mirrored. Directed by Willem Baptist, the film captures Mack's life as a young athlete facing unique health challenges while pursuing his passion for motocross. The film was broadcast by VPRO in the Netherlands and ARTE in German and French-speaking countries.
The documentary premiered at the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam and was screened at over 100 film festivals worldwide, including the BFI London Film Festival and the Kraków Film Festival. It received multiple awards, such as the Golden Gate Award at the San Francisco International Film Festival and a Documentary Short Grand Jury Prize at the Atlanta Film Festival. In 2018, it was recognized as one of the top fifteen classic children's documentaries by IDFA.
